Dry Chemical

Unique hazards and occupancies require distinctive solutions. One such solution is an FM Approved dry chemical extinguishing system. A dry chemical extinguishing system consists of a fixed container of dry chemical connected by fixed piping to nozzles. The dry chemical is released either automatically or manually. These systems typically protect ignitable liquid hazards. FM Approved dry chemical systems have been evaluated to determine their functionality should they be called upon to do so, giving the end user the confidence in the manufacturer’s product.

Dry chemical system design is highly specialized and it is very important that the recommended limitations regarding pipe size, length, symmetry and arrangement as well as nozzle spacing and location be followed. When designing these special protection systems to provide protection for a specific occupancy, always consult the manufacturer's design and installation manual.
