While FM Approvals has developed more than 200 Examination Standard that specify the Approval criteria of various types of products and services, we’re always working on developing more and improving the ones that we have. Below we outline the standards that are currently under development.
Building materials
FM 3960, Battery Back-up Units (BBUs) for Distributed Power in Data Centers
New Examination Standard which will specify requirements for battery back-up units (BBUs) for distributed power in data centers.
FM 3961, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Battery Systems
New Examination Standard which will specify requirements for lithium ion and similar battery chemistry Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems.
FM 4470, Single-Ply, Polymer-Modified Bitumen Sheet, Built0Up Roof (BUR) and Liquid Applied Roof Assemblies for Use in Class 1 and Noncombustible Roof Deck Construction
The standard will be revised to add plastic plate criteria for the Very Severe Hail (VSH) rating.
FM 4483, Wall Mounted Building Integrated Photovoltaic Systems
The standard will be revised to update test requirements.
FM 4882, Low Smoke Wall Panels Class 1 Interior Wall and Ceiling Materials or Systems for Smoke Sensitive Occupancies
