Pallets and Other Material Handling Equipment

The storage of idle pallets in warehouses or manufacturing facilities can represent a severe fire challenge. Pallets, especially when manufactured from plastic, normally require a very high sprinkler water discharge rate for adequate fire protection.

Non-wooden pallets that are certified by FM Approvals can be protected as if they were wooden pallets, resulting in the use of much less water. FM Approval certification is extended only to those pallets that exhibit burning and heat release characteristics equivalent to, or less critical than, conventional wood pallets.
